Now that we've established the difference between and :)

Has there been any conclusion on your end ? Surely it only assists as with most things seo (unless I am off the mark) there is no one magic trick, but all the little ones combined aid to a success ?

* thanks for taking the time and for the trackback SEO Kudos.
* Stephen, I hope you still understood the point that I was making about the strong tag not only being a factor to consider in refernce to SEO but also usability and catching a readers attention. We both know consumer online behaviour can be determine very quickly as to whether they stay or bounce. SEO projects can take a lot of time and effort to be successful so i feel one you have done all the hard work to get prospective customers to the page then it is vital that you can keep their interest and convert them.

I was under the impression that strong and em did have some weight, but that b and i no longer did, so I agree that the focus on bold confused me somewhat.

Hello Richy, thanks for the comment, very valid and completely agree. As Lisa says the overall message is still the same and the article and research refers to bold and italic fonts too, not just tags.

Hi Richard, yes very true but "how to be strong and influence people" doesn't sound as good ;p

I guess bold tags is a bit old school HTML but you the message is still the same.

Surely you should be using instead of as that gives semantic information (hand for screen readers) - and browsers render them the same anyway. Same as using for emphasis instead of (italics).
